Hi Everyone,
I hope you all had an amazing and well-relaxed summer, and welcome to all our new members!
WESQMUL are now opening up positions to our members to join our Committee.
There are 3 positions available and the skills required are all displayed below.
I encourage you to apply as it will be a great way to develop yourself outside of academia, and show enthusiasm for engineering while having fun and organising events for others to have fun! It will look great on your CV, and the relationships you build with industry are crucial for potential job opportunities.
All you need to do is submit a 200 word (max) statement including:
– Why you are fit for the job
– What can you bring to the society (e.g. past experiences)
General Secretary
The Secretary is the backbone of the organisation of any society and ensures that everything runs smoothly. They are key in communication between the Committee, the Society, the University and Industrial partners.

Duties and Key Responsibilities
1) Communicate with SU, QMUL and WESQMUL to ensure relationships are maintained
2) Ensure all communications are being followed up on.
3) Communicate with WESQMUL members
Publicity Officer
Every society needs publicity – from event tickets to hoodies. The publicity officer is a key member in recruiting members, networking with other societies and generally create a buzz around your society. In charge of updating Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook 1-2x Week.

Duties and Key Responsibilities
1) Update social media 1-2x a week
2) Ensure all communications are being followed up on.
3) Communicate with WESQMUL members
4) Publicise society!
Liaison Officer
In charge of maintaining relationships with academics, to give insight into SEMS work as well as other engineering and employability opportunities. This is perfect for someone who does not have the time to commit fully to WESQMUL but would still like to get involved.

Duties and Key Responsibilities
1) Work with Content Creator to update website
2) Work with external and internal academic contacts
3) Write up short updates on what is happening within SEMS.
Content Creator
A slightly smaller role, that is still crucial, the Content Creator is in charge of updating our website with content 1 to 2 times a week. This can be blogs ranging from events we have attended, or sharing personal stories of women in engineering. It is a great way to get into the committee and improve your CV without taking on huge responsibility.

2) Work with external and internal contacts
3) Develop new ideas for the website, i.e. videos, interviews etc.
Careers Officer
A smaller role that involves looking into potential opportunities for members. This will be greatly beneficial for students who do not want to fully commit but still want to be involved. It will include working with industry to maintain and grow relationships.
